A graduate of GMC, Amritsar he pursued his Masters in Surgery from the Government Medical College and Hospital, Jamnagar. Following his fellowship in Minimal Access Surgery, Endoscopic Hernia surgery and Bariatric Surgery, has worked with singular determination to develop, valuate and propagate Minimal Access, Metabolic and Bariatric surgery in India.
Dr. Ashish Bhanot is one of the surgeons to recognize and acknowledge the increasing prevalence of obesity in India. With his characteristic determination he pursued the surgical treatment ( bariatric surgery ) of patients with morbid obesity.
His academic pursuits are several and to name a few he has been engaged as Associate Professor, teaching general surgery and minimal access surgery to undergraduate and post graduate students at various medical colleges across India. His passion for surgery has lead him to author many original research papers in reputed journals. He is also, an editor and faculty with many web based journals on obesity surgery.
He has worked as Chief Consultant and Head Laparoscopic General, GI and Obesity Surgery at Wockhardt Hospitals and is one of the pioneers of Bariatric Surgery In central India.
Dr. Ashish Bhanot has been on expert panel and conducted number of talks educating masses on obesity and other health related issues on television and radio .
