Dear EUPSA Members, Dear Friends,
It is a great pleasure that I have the chance to invite you for the second time to the Annual Congress of the European Paediatric Surgeons’ Association organized by me. I hope you recall the 10th EUPSA Congress in Berne in 2010 and revive good memories.
For the first time in the history of EUPSA we are on an island in the Mediterranean. The island of Cyprus has been the crossroad between East and West, since over 10000 years. Our prehistoric ancestors have used it to cross from Africa to Europe, Alexander the Great to invade Asia, the Crusaders to regain power over Holy Jerusalem and still today the NATO for Military actions in the region.
The 18th EUPSA Annual Congress is extremely promising for more than 2 reasons:
– We are proud to announce that the 24th Colorectal Club International Meeting will precede the EUPSA Congress giving you all the great opportunity to attend 2 very important meetings on a row.
– The EUPSA Annual Congress is the most important Paediatric Surgical event of the year, attracting hundreds of Surgeons from all over Europe but also from many places in the world.
– Both meetings offer a unique occasion to share knowledge, discuss personal experiences and plan projects through the well planned Scientific Sessions, Courses and “Meet the Expert Sessions” held by colleagues with high expertise.
– EUPSA will contribute to the development of the newly developed Medical School of the University of Cyprus, which took both meetings under its auspices, making one of its aims to promote medical knowledge in Europe possible.
Especially at this time of the year air connections to Cyprus are ample from all countries and it is advisable to look for package deals including flight and accommodation. Limassol is very well accessible from both airports of the island and the venue itself is in the old city with a good connection to public transport. The correlate events will take place in the old city and in archaeological sites older than 2000 years, reviving Greek, Persian, Italian, French, Othman and British culture.
Cyprus is an attraction visited by more than 4’000’000 people per year looking for recreation as well as culture offered by the rich history of this island. I am sure your stay in Cyprus will be a memorable experience.
We all are looking forward to welcoming you and your families to Limassol /Cyprus.
Zacharias Zachariou
